Album Share : Come On Sign – Joe E. Neubauer
UPDATE July 18, 2008: I’ve removed the mp3s and .zip file for this album because you can purchase a beautiful, re-mastered, re-release from the fine folks at Eabla Records. Click here for more info!
Currently up for your listening pleasure are the dulcet tones of balladeer and reformed hell raiser Joe E. Neubauer. As the liner notes inform us, Mr. Neubauer was well known in the Fort Lauderdale, Florida area for his entertainment prowess and the ‘merry mischief and havoc’ he created in his youth. This vanity recording is a testament to his love of the ballad and his ‘loads of talent’.
While Mr. Neubauer does possess a unique ballad style, his performances on the more up-tempo selections such as Thinkin’ About Me, Thinkin’ About You are more satisfying. Not to be missed is the title track, which portrays a desperate man’s plea to connect with his recalcitrant lover, punctuated with well timed grunts.
There was a lot of effort put into this recording. Mr. Neubauer is backed up on each song by full arrangements that feature a lot of brass and strings. Further information about Mr. Neubauer is nonexistent, but several of the people listed in the credits have gone on to much bigger things, including songwriters Steve Bogard and Wayne Carson, and touring/session keyboardist Mike Utley. One of the album’s producers was Dave Chiodo, who I believe was a member of the Miami garage-rock band The Birdwatchers. Have fun listening and as always, Enjoy!

Great album. I’ve loved it for years, but only had it on a cassette. Great to have the cover and a fresh copy! The title track to this album has been in my personal top ten since I first heard it!

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!
I’ve only listened up to track #6 and have decided this LP is one of the greatest things I have ever heard! Joe E. Neubauer is the master of cool…step aside Elvis and Tom Jones, the real king is in the house! An instant classic! worthy of 5 Stars! It’s hard to get any better than this. I need that suit!

Amazing…I’ve been trying to track down Joe E. for the last decade. How on earth did you find his last name?

Also, my LP version’s called “Love Got in My Way”…is this an alternate version?

OK, I get it…it IS an alternate version, which is how you got his name.
Sorry for the multiple, incoherent comments. I was beside myself for a few minutes there.
Anyway, thanks. I’m going to nominate you for the Nobel Prize.
